2010-2011 District Calendar (Adopted October 20, 2009)
2011-12 Calendar Development
The District began the development process for the 2011-12 school calendar December 10, 2009, at its first Calendar Development Committee meeting of the year. This committee is made up of representatives from all stakeholder groups, including the high school principals and representatives from feeder districts.
At the December 10th meeting, the committee agreed to dissemniate a survey to measure the level of support for adopting a calendar that would end the first semester before the December Recess. Over 1,600 participated in the survey, including District staff, students, and parents, as well as staff and parents from the feeder districts.
Based upon the results of the survey, which overwhelmingly showed support for the proposed change, District staff will be offered two drafts for consideration. Draft A is a traditional calendar, and Draft B implements the change of ending first semester before the December Recess. Taking into consideration the preferences of District staff, the Calendar Development Committee will make a recommendation to Superintendent Matsuoka about which calendar to present to the Board of Trustees for adoption.
